Cruden Bay

Welcome to Cruden Medical Group

Our well-established Practice serves around 3800 patients, mostly in the Cruden Bay and Hatton areas but spreading 9 miles to Peterhead, Ellon and inland to the Mintlaw area. We have a fully equipped branch surgery at Cruden Bay.

With patients' needs at the heart of everything we do, our website has been designed to make it easy for you to gain instant access to the information you need. As well as specific practice details such as opening hours and how to register, you’ll find a wealth of useful pages covering a wide range of health issues along with links to other relevant medical organisations.

We wish to thank all of our patients for their patience and support over the last few months. Cruden Medical Group has remained open and has been busy throughout lockdown.  The coronavirus pandemic has brought new challenges for us all. Going forward we would like to reassure you that looking after your health remains our top priority. Unfortunately Coronavirus remains a real threat and things are not back to normal.  Like everyone we have had to make significant changes our working practices to ensure we can offer safe and effective access to healthcare.

We have now introduced eConsult to enable timely access to your clinical team.  We would encourage you to use this first for all routine medical problems.  For more urgent issues please telephone the surgery in the usual manner.  As is recommended by the Scottish Government we continue to use telephone and video consultations to assess and advise the majority of patients.  Face-to-face consultations are available when clinically appropriate - this decision will be made by your consulting clinician.  In order to enable us to comply with social distancing and cleaning requirements we ask that you DO NOT attend the GP surgery unless you have been specifically instructed to do so by a member of our team

We have resumed chronic disease monitoring, at present we are prioritising those individuals considered high risk and those that missed their reviews during lockdown.  Patients with diabetes, asthma and COPD, dementia, mental health problems and hypertension are being contacted first.

If you have received an invitation for cervical screening please contact us to make an appointment for your smear test.

Our treatment room is open for blood tests, essential injections, immunisations and wound care.

Our clinical staff are all wearing personal protective equipment. If you have a face covering please wear this for your appointment.  To minimise person to person contact your assessment may performed in your car if appropriate.  Unless you specifically need a carer please attend the surgery alone.  If you develop new symptoms consistent with Coronavirus infection please cancel your appointment and visit NHSInform for further advice.

As per current government instruction if you develop a fever and/or a new continuous cough and/or a new loss of taste/smell please stay at home for 10 days from the start of your symptoms even if they are mild. At present GP practices have no ability to test for Coronovirus. Information about most medical conditions including Coronovirus can be found online at NHS inform at If you are worried contact NHS24 on 111 for further advice.

Face coverings/masks are now mandatory on public transport in shops in Scotland. Some individuals are exempt from this legislation due to medical reasons, further information can be found on the Scottish government website.  You DO NOT need a letter from a GP if you are exempt from wearing a mask on medical grounds.  Our facebook page has a link to downloadable exemption cards should you wish to carry one however, this is not a legal requirement.

In this difficult time we know people can turn to alcohol and drugs. If you need support please visit or contact them on 01224 558844.

This practice offers NHS Near Me video appointments, powered by the Attend Anywhere system.

NHS Near Me is a video consulting service which allows patients to attend their appointment from the comfort of their own home or wherever is convenient, using their own computer, smartphone or tablet device.

To use this service you must have a booked video appointment with the practice. Your clinician or booking staff will be able to advise you whether a video appointment is suitable for you.

Whatever your thoughts, be sure to let us know via our feedback function. Comments and suggestions are always a great way of helping us continue to enhance the way we look after you.

We are now a teaching practice and from time to time students will be with the GP to further their training in General Practice. You will be asked to give permission for the student to sit in during your consultation.
